Recently, we had the honor of welcoming the writer Anna Adoue to Jardines de Alfabia, a place that has captured the imagination of visitors for centuries. During her time in this corner of the island, Anna found the inspiration to write a text that she kindly shares with us.
“Hoy escribo desde un lugar que parecía esperarme desde hace siglos,” Anna began, immersed in the peace conveyed by the old trees and hidden fountains of the garden. In her words, one perceives that special connection that only places like Jardines de Alfabia can offer. A site where, as she herself relates, she discovered the pleasure of “romantizar la vida en soledad” while connecting with herself and the surroundings.
Throughout her writing, Anna shares how the historic and natural environment of Jardines de Alfabia helped her connect with herself. Her account is a reflection on solitude, self-knowledge, and the beauty of being in a place that allows you to be and feel. In her text, she transports herself to a past era, imagining the lives of those who inhabited this place centuries ago, wondering about their emotions and experiences.
“Hoy Els Jardins d’Alfabia se convierten en mi lugar. Mi lugar para escribir, mi lugar no solo para conectar conmigo, pluma y papel, sino para conectar con su maravillosa esencia.”
It is in this unique atmosphere where Anna found the space to write and feel, as so many before her have done. The gardens, the history, and the sensations of this place, dating back to the 13th century, intertwine in her narrative, leading us to think about the historical figures who lived here, those who left their mark, and those whose names have been lost over time.
