With the passing of time, more gardens have been
added to the Alfabia garden complex. The architecture of
its main facade is atypical and highly characteristic and
is influenced by the structure of the gardens. We could dwell
on the beauty and transparency of the aljibe (cistern), with
its rounded arch built during the baroque reform. But perhaps
the garden's most emblematic offering is the pergola with
its water fountains. The origin of these fountains goes back
to the villas of the Italian Renaissance whose art spread
across Europe during the 16th century. Visitors are always
thrilled by these surprising water fountains.
The lower garden has an exotic air, due to its
tropical nature and a small pond with water lilies. Here
we can find a wide array of palm trees from which the garballons
stand out, an endangered species that is indigenous to the
island.
